Parents and students--prom is this Saturday, May 8th. If you have RSVP'd, you may start arriving at 6:30pm. A valet service will be there upon your arrival. Parents you are welcome to watch your child walk in at the red carpet gathering outside the venue until approximately 7:30. Remember that no one will be allowed in after 7:30, and once you have left prom, you will not be allowed back in. Padres y estudiantes: el baile de graduación es este sábado 8 de mayo. Si ha confirmado su asistencia, puede comenzar a llegar a las 6:30 pm. Un servicio de aparcacoches estará allí a su llegada. Padres, pueden ver a su hijo entrar a la reunión de la alfombra roja fuera del lugar hasta aproximadamente las 7:30. Dear Senior Parents, I wanted to provide some clarification regarding the two accounts that money is expended or collected for seniors. Senior Activity Fund---all deposits and credits have documentation. The documentation is sent to the Administration Office. The activity fund goes through an audit at the same time all other school finances are audited every year. This account is managed by the sponsors of the senior class. This account begins their freshmen year with fundraisers and moves with them until they are seniors. At the beginning of the 2020-2021 school year, the account had a balance of $7,916.21. As of 5-5-2021, the account had a balance of $6,460.93. There are still some expenses expected before the end of the school year. Once all expenses are paid, the senior sponsors and class officers will discuss possibilities on how to use the remaining funds. Project Graduation Account---completely managed by a parent or parents in the senior class (school is not involved with activity or money collected). Students and parents work at the basketball concession stand as a fund raiser. Businesses can be asked for donations (not mandatory) and other fund raisers can occur if wanted. At the end of the year, the intent is to take the students somewhere after graduation so they receive a drug and alcohol free night. But, ultimately this is up to the parents. I contacted one of the parents that spoke to senior parents this morning. I shared with her that the Senior Activity Account has available money to pay for the breakfast if this is wanted by the parents. I would also like to clarify the meal for the MHS Prom. A buffet style meal will be provided—pork station with nachos, street tacos, and sliders. A mini cake and drink station. The students will also have a candy/snack station during the dance. Valet services will be provided for the students attending prom. Students may start arriving at 6:30 and red carpet entrance will be provided. Parents are welcome to watch the students enter the venue beginning at 6:30 and then leaving once the prom begins. Please let me know if you have any additional questions. Watson JH 8th Grade Parents/Guardians, 8th Graders will be taking the STAAR Science on our campus tomorrow, 05/06/21and the STAAR Social Studies test on Friday, 05/07/2021. We would like to remind everyone that no cell phones or smart watches are allowed during State Testing. Get a good night’s sleep and we look forward to a great day tomorrow. Los padres / tutores de Watson JH de octavo grado, los estudiantes de octavo grado tomarán el examen de ciencias STAAR en nuestro campus mañana, 06/05/21 y el examen de estudios sociales STAAR el viernes, 07/05/2021.
