Dear ESC Region 17 AreaCounselor,
You, your 6th - 12th grade students, and their parents are cordially invited to attend the Lubbock Independent School District’s sponsored TACRAO College and Career Night. The event will be held at the Texas Tech University United Supermarkets Arena from 5:30 to 7:30 PM on Monday, October 2, 2023. Approximately one hundred colleges, universities, and technical institutes will be represented. Additionally, recruiters from the armed services will also be available to discuss educational and career opportunities available through military branches.
Financial Aid 101
A financial aid seminar will be provided to benefit parents and students. There will be two sessions offered at 5:30-6:15 PM and 6:30–7:15 PM. The seminar will focus primarily on the steps to take in locating, applying for, and receiving financial aid. Participating Lubbock ISD seniors will be entered into a $250 TTU scholarship drawing at the conclusion of each session.
TACRAO Registration
For your convenience, the TACRAO Go to College Fair registration instructions are provided for students, families, and counselors. Registration creates a barcode that allows participating colleges to scan and follow up with interested students and families and gives counselors access to a record of their registered students and collegiate interests.
Though registration is not required to attend this event, it is highly recommended. This process also gives students access to College Matchmaking services which use a five criteria matching system, including the campus size, institution type, geographic region, setting, and majors offered. Registered students will receive an email with a list of colleges that best match their profile and email reminders of the upcoming TACRAO event. To register:

College and Career Readiness Challenge Prize Giveaway
To participate, students (grades 6-12) are required to complete the College and Career Readiness Challenge form by visiting at least 10 vendors and recording answers to questions. Completed forms will be entered into a drawing for a door prize. Door prize drawings are every 15 minutes starting at 6:00 - 7:15 PM. In addition, 10 - $400 scholarship drawings will begin at 7:15 PM for Lubbock ISD seniors, who have completed the CCR challenge form.
